I really like these wheat straw bowls. This material is just fantastic for daily use. It is microwave and dishwasher safe. They are very sturdy and break proof if dropped. The fact that they are stain resistant is a real winner for me. We heat up a lot of leftovers in the microwave that we had to remove from plastic containers first so as not to leave red Chile or spaghetti stains that you cannot remove. These bowls just wash clean when used in the microwave. The only bowl for me. Lolq
We generally don’t eat cereal in our household, but I am guessing that for those who do, these bowls are really bigger than needed for that purpose. That doesn’t mean they aren’t awesome. There is so much to love about wheat grass dinnerware:
++ They’re lightweight but sturdy, and nearly unbreakable.
++They’re happy in the cabinet, fridge, dishwasher, and microwave: we haven’t tried them in the freezer but that’s more from them not being designed to have lids more than being concerned.
++They don’t stain easily. (Tomato-based soups and salsas and pasta sauce? No problem!)
I’ve added some photos of the bowls with a standard U.S. 12-ounce soda can. It fits easily inside the bowls so hopefully that helps show relative size. The only thing I could possibly think of to change is to offer some options with colors. But that’s about it.
I ordered the 26 oz “general size” wheat straw bowls to save my newly purchased dishes. I would cringe every time my son did the dishes since he is a giant guy and not someone who is very careful with things. Ever since these arrived, they are getting used by my family so much, I’ve struggled to get a picture to do this review!
This is good though since I have had them now for a couple of months and can attest to their durability going through the dishwasher daily. They are thick so they don’t warp when you put hot food into them and they have been stacked under heavy dishes, dropped on the floor and they still look brand new. One of the features I appreciate about these bowls is food doesn’t stick to them and on the rare occasion they have been left with red sauce, chili or hot curry dishes, they come perfectly clean with no stains after a few minutes with water in them. Because of this, dishes are not as big of a chore and we have now put away my new dishes for company only.
For size, they are the perfect cereal bowl and also hold a good amount of soup. They also stack nicely so you can fit them in a small footprint to include a small camper or in a picnic basket. I’m going to purchase a second set but in a different color. The color combination is the only part I don’t like but not enough to knock the rating down. At this price point, they are a great bargain and one of the best things I’ve ordered in 2024. I’m also going to order the large bowls for BBQ in the summer.
As a side note, I am including a picture of the bottom so you can see that the plastic is rated a 5. This means it is polypropylene and is the same food grade you get with yogurt containers. We looked up the recycling standards on it and it can be recycled in the future but you will have to call your garbage company to find out if they accept it.
These are very nice, sturdy bowls. Even trying to bend or deform them somewhat stongly, they bounce right back into their proper shape. They are also a little bigger than our standard cereal bowls.
These work well in the microwave and also don't seem to hold stains as much as plastic bowls. The ridges on these bowls give them extra character as well as keeps them from sticking together and also easier to grab and hold on to. They set on the table sturdy.
