Nice Quality Cups - Consider the Size

Nice color assortment. Although the cups will hold 12 oz, these cups will only give you about 1/4" clearance to the rim (you'd have a hard time walking with 12oz in the cup without spilling it). I would almost characterize this size as "juice sized-cups". 12 oz carbonated beverages will definitely overflow with any amount of foam. 8oz would be perfect capacity for this cup with ample clearance. Out of the package, these cups have a slight smell - but doesn't seem like a chemical smell. There are no rough edges or burrs that you would normally see with typical plastic cups. My first impression besides the smell, was how smooth and strong the cups feel. I squeezed a cup pretty hard (attached pic), and got the top to look like an oval. I would think most plastic cups would collapse or break. These cups are SOLID and thicker than most. I ran the cups (upper rack) through dishwasher prior to use with no issues. The smell was reduced and was very faint. Feels like it will disappear pretty quickly. 4 stars for slight smell and feasibility to hold 12 oz comfortably.

Smell like burnt sawdust

These cups are environmentally friendly, compostable after long term use, dishwasher safe and come it a variety of colors. However, out of the box they smell offensive! Like burnt sawdust. I thought maybe after running them thru the dishwasher the smell would dissipate, but no. Not even a little. It took a full 24hrs of airing out before the smell faded and anyone in my house would attempt to use...now that they are deemed acceptable by the masses, I can say that I recommend.

Good for the price

Seem like sturdy and durable cups. Didn't come with any wrapping in the box, so they got scratched up a little bit in transport. But nothing too bad. For the price, they definitely still seem worth it.
